California music festival Coachella is considered one of the hottest tickets of the festival season, for a variety of reasons, one being that it's the best place to show off beauty and fashion trends. Now that we have arrived at festival season, it’s time to start taking note of those over-the-top trends that keep popping up on our Instagram feeds.

1. Animal Print

Trends come and go, but there are some things that never go out of style. From snake and leopard prints to tiger and zebra stripes, animal spots are about to dominate this festival season. All kinds of animal prints can be found not only at festivals but in everyday clothing.

2. Ass-less Chaps

Many influencers at Coachella have worn pants with the front and back side missing. Butt-bearing chaps could be the new flower crown of Coachella. This has become a trend specific to festivals and special events, rather than everyday street wear.

3. Monochrome Squad-fits

Outfits featuring one and only one color has made a significant appearance at this year’s Coachella. This is not a new trend as it has become a popular outfit choice in recent years but due to the enormous amount of monochromatic outfits, it deserves its own category. All white or all black seems to have the biggest representation at the festival this year

4. Mesh

Feel obligated to wear clothes but still want to show some skin? Mesh should be your go-to! The most fashionable and the perfect trend to sport in the desert air. Mesh is worn in so many different ways, from crop tops and maxi skirts, to socks, tights and everything in-between, there are so many creative ways to rock a mesh look from head to toe.

 5. Hip and/or crossbody bags

Fanny packs are perfect for music festivals because they are stylish and utilitarian. The hot and dust-filled desert calls for sunscreen, water and chapstick, all of which fits perfectly in a fanny pack.

6. Boho and Hippie vibes

Bohemian and Hippie fashion trends have made yet another appearance at this year’s Coachella. Crochet, paisley prints, tie-dye and flared pants are giving us major #tbt to the '70's vibes. All things flowy and crochet are essential for the 2019 festival season.

7. Neon

Neon has taken over but in the best way! The bright colors not only match the colorful vibes of the music festival, but allows the individual to stand out in the crowd and have the bonus of not losing their friends. Neon works no matter how it is worn, whether that be a full neon outfit or a pop of neon accessories.

8. Yeehaw vibes

Who would've though that country music and the cowboy emoji could inspire a fashion trend?! Expect to see even more western wear on your feed, including the rise of cowboy hats, boots and a whole lot of leather and suede fringe. Rodeo hats not only serve looks, but also serve as helpful protection under the desert sun.

 9. Statement Prints

Clothing in hectic prints seem to be the thing this season. Statement prints are one of the best ways to stand out from the crowd. Pairing a busy print with a neutral balances the look and makes the print pop. Mixing prints or sticking to a full print from head to toe is a bold move but also a smart one. Prints draw attention and catches people’s eyes.

 10. Straps/harnesses

Straps and harnesses are an unexpected yet popular accessory this year. We think this is due to platform shoes and utilitarian belts coming onto the fashion scene. A stand-alone harness is a statement piece to layer onto any outfit, and incorporating straps only elevates the look.
