The Oregon State University Academic Success Center in Waldo Hall 125 offers multiple academic support services as well as special focus classes that can be taken alongside any course at OSU.

“All of our services are offered at no additional charge to students,” said Anika Lautenbach, lead strategist at the Academic Success Center in May 2019. “Our programming is available to all students, regardless of year or major in school, and we encourage students to come in early and often.”

The main services the Academic Success Center offers include strategy consultations, academic coaching, and an academic success course (ALS 116). The 2019-20 course catalog describes the class as “assessment and development of strategies for succeeding in university-level academics. Topics include time management, goal setting, critical thinking, note taking, and study skills.” OSU also offers a career decision making course (ALS 114).

The ASC can help students locate their academic advisor—housed within their major, school or college—or assist in planning for an advising conversation.

For those working on polishing a paper or resume, OSU also has the Undergrad Research & Writing Studio on the main floor of The Valley Library and a Graduate Writing Center in Waldo Hall 102.

Students can also receive assistance remotely through the Writing Center's Online Writing Suite

The OSU Math Department provides an open study area and free drop-in tutoring through its Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center in Kidder Hall 108.

According to the OSU Experience website, the College of Business has a success center in Austin Hall. The Vole Hole, located in Weniger Hall, is a biology tutoring space, and the Mole Hole in the Valley Library is a chemistry tutoring space. The Worm Hole in Weniger Hall is where students can get help with physics.
